ArmInfo. Political expert Aghasi Yenoqyan is sure that Armenia- EU new agreement will never contradict Yerevan Russian-oriented policy
Armenia and EU plan to sign a comprehensive agreement settling the relations between Yerevan and Brussels on November this year . The appropriate negotiations were launched after on October 12, 2015 the EU took a decision to authorize European Commission to start negotiations on comprehensive agreement with Armenia.
Of course, I do not rule out the probability such an Agreement will be signed with EU, especially considering its financial-economical segment, which is of a special interest for Armenia. But, prior to signing such an agreement, as well as any other one, Armenian authorities will try to coordinate it with Moscow.
At the same time, according to Yenoqyan, new agreement has lost its meaning and symbolism, which were contained in the previous draft Agreement, which signing was planned for November 2013. And this is not even talking about essentially restricted content. According to him, Yerevan's joining the projects of Eurasian integration initiated by Moscow has decreased the meaning of the Agreement planed to be signed.
Yerevan planned to sign the Agreement on Association with EU in November 2013 on the margins of Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius. But in September 2013, after the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan announced an intention to joins Customs Alliance.
