ArmInfo. The representative of the Yerkir Tsirani Party Armen Gabrielyan submitted application to CEC to recognize the results of the election of Yerevan Elders Council invalid because of mass violations during the electoral process which effected the results.
In particular it is noted that on May 14, 2017, Yerkir Tsirani Party recorded that the Police was busy with gaining votes in favor of the Republican party, mass bribery handling took place, and also the law enforcement officers used violence against the leader of the Party Zaruhi Postanjyan and her daughter Lilit Drampyan who as a result of the actions of law enforcers received concussion.
"We already informed that in the night of 13-14 May, in 40% of the polling stations, the safes where the ballots are kept were not in the zone of coverage of the cameras implemented in the stations. Besides, many ballots were made invalid through making the second mark on them. Notable is the fact that marks on one and the same ballot were made by different handwriting. There were some ten thousand ballots of suchlike. The number of voters registered in Yerevan was raised. At the same time the law enforcement bodies and CEC ignored the violations. Considering the above mentioned and by the 142nd article of the electoral code of Republic of Armenia we demand to recognize the results of the elections invalid. All the proofs in case of need will be directed to the Central Electoral Committee", the statement reads.
To note, by the results of the elections of the Elders Council to Yerevan the Republican Party with the reelected Mayor Taron Margaryan had 71% of votes, Yelq Bloc with the Deputy Nicol Pashinyan -20%, and Yerkir Tsirani with Zaruhi Postanjyan 7.5%.
