ArmInfo.. It is known that Armenia has always been and remains a supporter of the negotiation process. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated this to Armenian public television, commenting on Baku's statement that supposedly Armenia avoids negotiations, but will have to return to the negotiating table.
"The Azeri side is simply trying, as they say, to make a good face in a bad game, and fails. It is known that Armenia has always been and remains a supporter of the negotiation process. It is also well-known that Azerbaijan is continuously trying by all means to postpone discussions on the Karabakh issue to other platforms, thereby trying to avoid negotiations and to refuse meetings organized in an agreed format under the Co-chairs of the Minsk Group, accusing the Armenian side of this. Perhaps before attempting to make such false statements, Azerbaijan should try to explain how it turns out that if the Armenian side refuses to negotiate, then it is Baku that does not fulfill the agreements reached during the negotiations, which we faced in the case of the agreements reached during last year's summits in Vienna and St. Petersburg," the Armenian minister said.
At the same time, he stressed that Azerbaijan always tries to prevent the implementation of even the minimum agreed steps, while putting forward some sort of maximalist demands. Nalbandian is convinced that everyone gets the impression that Azerbaijan is not capable of negotiating. "But despite attempts to abandon the meetings, which we witnessed in Munich, and before that in Hamburg, Armenia has always been and remains a supporter of the negotiations, since there is no alternative to the negotiation process," the Foreign Minister noted.
Referring to the media information about the possible meeting of the Armenian and Azeri FMs on April 27, Nalbandian said, in particular, with the mediation of Russia: "There is a common understanding that such a meeting needs to be organized. When there is a final agreement, when the deadline will be specified, we will report this".
