ArmInfo.Official Stepanakert disproves the report of the State Commission on Prisoners, Hostages and Missing Azerbaijani Citizens that problems of Azerbaijani saboteurs Dilgam Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev, who are serving their sentence in the NKR, appeared in the state of health of Azerbaijani saboteurs.
"I believe that such behavior of Azerbaijan is a manifestation of terrorism against relatives of these people, since this is unreliable and unreasonable information. I want to emphasize that as soon as the defendants have any health problems they immediately get medical help. In fact, we render assistance to terrorism, but this is also our difference from Azerbaijan. We, as a democratic state, respect all persons in our country, even those who are serving sentences in places of deprivation of liberty," said NKR leader's press secretary David Babayan in an interview with ArmInfo correspondent.
At the same time, he advised the State Commission of Azerbaijan "instead of raising the issue of providing medical assistance to Askerov and Guliyev, to think about providing psychiatric assistance to the leadership of their country and the murderers of Armenian soldiers".
According to Babayan, only a mentally ill person is capable of hacking a sleeping person, and an equally sick person can declare a murderer a national hero. (On February 19, 2004, Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov, at the NATO training center in Hungary at night, hacked the sleeping Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan by the axe.) Azerbaijan achieved the extradition of the convict Safarov to his homeland, where he was released and officially proclaimed a national hero.) "A psychologically healthy person is not capable of such an act. It is probably necessary to ask the relevant international organizations to check the mental state of the leaders of Azerbaijan," Babayan concluded.
Let us note that the deputy head of the State Commission Working Group on Prisoners, Hostages and Missing Citizens of Azerbaijan, Eldar Samedov, said on April 24 that Dilgam Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev, who are serving their sentence in Artsakh, had some problems with their well-being.
To recall, Azerbaijani citizens Shahbaz Guliyev (born in 1968), Dilgam Askerov (born in 1960), and the liquidated third participant of the group Hasan Hasanov, carrying weapons and ammunition, illegally crossed the state border of the NKR on June 29, penetrated into the territory of the Shahumyan district of the republic with the purpose of carrying out reconnaissance activities. These individuals on the special mission collected information and carried out espionage activities. Moreover, with the use of weapons, they kidnapped a minor citizen of NKR Smbat Tsakanyan on July 4, whose body was found on July 15 with gunshot wounds in the forest belt of Karvachar and Manashid communities of Shahumyan district. In addition, Gasanov killed a resident of Yerevan Sarkis Abrahamyan (born in 1971) on the 32nd kilometer of the Vardenis-Karvachar highway on the grounds of national hatred on the evening of July 11, and Karine Davtyan, a resident of Dzorakhbyur village of Kotayk province, caused gunshot wounds. He showed armed resistance during the operation to detain him and was rendered harmless. At a meeting on December 29, 2014, Dilgam Askerov was sentenced to life imprisonment. Shahbaz Guliyev was sentenced to 22 years in prison. The Court of Appeal left the verdict unchanged.
