Satanovsky: The results of referendum will allow Erdogan to do with  Turkey de jure that, what he was doing de facto

ArmInfo. The results of referendum will allow Erdogan to do with Turkey de jure that, what he was doing de facto, the President of Institute of Middle East Evgeny  Satanovsky is sure.

For the modifications to Constitution of Turkey in favor of transition from parliamentary form of government into presidential, more than 51% of citizens voted on April 16. The population of the most developed cities of Turkey, such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir voted against the Constitutional modifications, Erdogan won due to his traditional electorate in under-developed regions of the country.   According to the modifications, the President of Turkey is able to  rule the country till 2029.

"Erdogan did not hold himself off anything even before the  referendum, destroying the military leadership, committing clearings  among his political opponents, neutralizing opposition and Media by  the toughest methods. In this context, becoming the superpresident  Erdogan will do inside the state what he did before.  The referendum  results will not influence on foreign policy as well", the analyst is  sure.

Satanovsky considers the referendum results to be an evidence of  absence of real opponents in Turkey.  Erdoagan gained 51% of votes  after a powerful agitation campaign, propaganda, persecutions, army  strikes, in a word, by a number of tools by which the other politics  win the election with 70-80% of votes.
