ArmInfo. From its side Armenia took all the necessary steps for the normalization of the relations with Turkey, Vardan Toghanyan, Armenian Ambassador to Armenia stated during his interview with Interfax.
He reminded that Armenia was the first initiative of so called Zurich process, as a result of which transactions were signed on normalization of relations. "It was a very difficult process, supported by our President. Before the assignment of the agreement he flew to many countries, communicated with the representatives of our Diaspora in Asia, America and Europe, presented why he found necessary to normalize the relations. These transactions were signed, including the cooperation with Russia, USA, European Union. But, unfortunately Turkey rejected to accomplish its obligations and did not ratify the transactions. In my opinion, Ankara leads destructive regional policy, officially supports Azerbaijan's position in Karabakh conflict, illegally blocs Armenian boundaries as Azerbaijan does, and coordinates the policy with Baku. Practically, from the moment of collapse of Soviet Union all the infrastructure, railways, pipeline are blocked from Turkey and Azerbaijan. Our aim is to normalize the relations with Turkey was exactly in the transactions which were signed, but Ankara demonstrated that is not ready for it. If the policy will go on, we do not see exit. We hope that Turkey will implement its accepted obligations. From our side we will take all the necessary steps to normalize the relations", the Diplomat said.
At the same time, answering the question whether Armenian contribution to Russian-Georgian relations is real, Toghanyan said that Yerevan as no one, is interested in improvement of bilateral relations between Russia and Georgia. "We think that two brother nations sooner or later should restart the relations in total extent. Political dialogue is being done currently, the meetings of Georgian and Russian representatives are being passed in Geneva. He hope these efforts will have success and will lead to concrete steps to normalization", the diplomat said.
