ArmInfo. The Heads of the CSTO states during the meeting in Bishkek took the decision to appoint Yuri Khachaturov, the head of SC of Armenia and Ex Chief of the HQ of AF of Armenia as CSTO Secretary General.
"When considering the appointment of the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, it was unanimously decided to appoint Yuri Khachaturov", Semerikov said.
According to him, the heads of the states decided to award former Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Nikolai Bordyuzha with the Distinction of the 1st degree of the CSTO Collective Security Council. He also said that during the informal summit the presidents of the CSTO countries considered the military-political and military-strategic situation in the CSTO responsibility zone and adopted a number of additional instructions on the work to counter threats to security.
To note, heads of the member states of the Organization approved the decision to rotate at the level of the Secretary General of the CSTO every three years, taking into account the Russian alphabet. At a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Yerevan on October 14 in Yerevan, the representative of Armenia was to occupy this position. However, as the President of Armenia informed on October 14, the question of Secretary General of CSTO was excluded from the agenda because of the absence of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. He informed that the heads of the member-states of CSTO will return to this question in December 2016 during the meeting in St. Petersberg. But the question was not solved again because of absence of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
