ArmInfo. The people of Artsakh defined and will define the status of Artsakh. Artsakh Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan stated in an interview with CNN Greece.
He noted that the April aggression of Azerbaijan against Artsakh once again demonstrated the need for urgent implementation of agreements on the establishment of mechanisms for investigating of incidents on the contact line and expanding the powers of the office of the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman.
According to him, Baku is constantly taking steps aimed at increasing tension on the contact line. "The peak of this escalation was Azerbaijan's aggression, which stressed the importance of implementing these agreements, as it will help to get out of the current situation and create conditions for the resumption of negotiations," he stressed, adding that it was the Azerbaijani side that refused to implement the Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements.
Speaking about the possibilities of a new war, Mirzoyan said that while Azerbaijan continues to strain the situation and decisive steps are not being taken to contain it, the threat of a new war is urgent not only for Armenia and Artsakh, but for the entire region and the international community.
The Minister noted that unlike other international problems in the Karabakh settlement, the position of the countries of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs is consonant. Touching upon the cooperation with the EU, Mirzoyan noted that, unlike other post-Soviet countries, Artsakh was forced to independently develop democracy without the support of external forces, including European structures. He stressed Stepanakert's readiness for cooperation aimed at developing and strengthening democratic institutions in the country.
