ArmInfo.Bacu`s militarist statement fears Azerbaijani population first. An expert of the Carnegie Fund, Tom de Waal, voiced this opinion on March 29, in Yerevan.
?In the light of the absence of open society in Azerbaijan, only official position may be heard on Artsakh form Azerbaijan. It is more then obvious that simple men are not willeng their sons to die on the confrontation line with the Artsakh Armed forces. And there are talks about it?, he noted.
At the same time, the British expert recalled the disappointment of the Azerbaijani society from the loss of territories if not Artsakh, but the territories the return of which is discussed, of course, in cas of proper guarantees.
In her turn, Magdalena Grono, program manager of the International Crisis Group for Europe and Central Asia, characterized the April war as the cause of Azerbaijan's pride, despite all the attendant human losses. At the same time, according to her estimates, the settlement of the Karabakh issue by peaceful means is being discussed not only in Armenia, but also in Azerbaijan, at least at the level of societies.
The OSCE Minsk Group has been dealing with the settlement of the Karabakh conflict since 1992, represented by the co-chairs from Russia, the United States and France. Currently, the settlement process is based on the Madrid Principles put forward by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in 2007 and updated in 2009, among other things, providing for the deployment of a peacekeeping contingent in the conflict zone.
