ArmInfo.Paris is willing to organize a meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, which will cover the Karabakh conflict settlement issues, French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault says.
Jean-Marc Ayrault has told AzerTac that along with Russia and the United States, France is a co-chair country of the OSCE Minsk Group and it is striving to see the Karabakh conflict resolved peacefully. "I was present at President Francois Hollande's meetings with the two countries' leaders. Hollande reiterated France's willingness to contribute to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," he says.
Minister Ayrault points out that the conflict should be resolved peacefully. If the sides want to hold peace talks and if they are ready to sign a peace agreement, France will willingly organize such a meeting, Jean- Marc Ayrault says, adding that the current status quo complicates the situation, but the conflict should be settled in a diplomatic way. "France is ready to play a mediator's role until the conflict is resolved," he says.
