ArmInfo. Free and fair elections are the first precondition for further improvement of EU-Armenia relations. This was stated by Joseph Daul, the Chairman of the European People's Party.
In his opinion, the EU-Armenia will be improved also by the initialed Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement
He mentioned that Parliamentary elections will be the first after the Constitution referendum implemented and transition to the parliamentary model of administration. Also, following his wording, this elections are the first to be conducted based on new electoral regulations, reformed exactly due to the initiative of Republican party. He said also that this is an important opportunity to test Armenian democracy. It is important to have free, transparent and peaceful conditions of elections conducted in compliance with all international standards. I am sure that RPA will do everything possible to conduct such elections not to get beneficial opinion of international entities, but proceeding from the interests of the country.
EPP Chairman is sure the improved democracy will make Armenia stronger, will strengthen the supremacy of law, will make the corruption struggle more effective, will secure the independence of justice system and will guarantee the political sustainability. The politician mentioned also that all the components mentioned will make Armenia more attractive for foreign investors and will support the economic growth, as well as jobs creation.
According to Daul, who expressed support to republicans, to make this process successful, the participation of all the political powers is needed, and, at the same time, more power assumes more responsibility - hence, that is the responsibility of RPA first'. Daul expressed also his advise to show more trust to responsible authorities.
