The vice-speaker of the Armenian parliament, press secretary of the ruling Republican Party Eduard Sharmazanov, in an interview with ArmInfo correspondent, answered to some of the statements of the first president, the leader of the bloc "Congress - People's Party of Armenia" Levon Ter-Petrosyan on the Karabakh settlement on the air of the Public Television of Armenia.
Speaking about Ter-Petrosyans statement that the document on Artsakh conflict settlement, does not differ from the one discussed while he was the president, Sharmazanov noted, "We repeatedly said that these are two different documents, and case in not even in the comparison which is better, they are just different and that is all. And also we repeatedly stressed that the current discussed document, though is not the edge of our dreams but nevertheless, we consider it the basis for the further negotiations. Our task is to reach the full implementation of the just demands of Artsakh people, already stated in 1988".
Touching upon Ter-Petrosyan's opinion that without solving the problem of the territories under Armenian control, the issue of the status of Artsakh cannot be defined, Sharmazanov stressed that for the current Government, the status of Artsakh is a priority in the negotiations. "All the other issues are raising from that one. For us, the status definition of Artsakh is a priority", he explained, noting that the final decision must make Artsakh.
Commenting on the statement of the first President, that all the main principles of the negotiation document are coordinated, as well as the question of the returning of the under control territories and the Artsakh's status.
