ArmInfo. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be resolved by means of peace talks only, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan says in an interview with Izvestia.
"The new aggression of Azerbaijan against Karabakh in April 2016 seriously damaged the peace process and the efforts aimed at restoring the confidence between the sides and finding a peaceful solution to the conflict," he says, noting that the escalation in late Feb 2017 once again demonstrated the need for urgent control over the ceasefire observance.
"Our counterparts in Baku should finally understand that Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries speak the same language - in the civilized world there is no alternative to negotiations," he stresses. Sargsyan thinks that war is not a way to resolve problems and that peace can be achieved through dialogue only.
President Sargsyan also points out that the Karabakh conflict should be resolved "based on the people's right to decide their own fate".
