ArmInfo. Armenia's collaboration forms with NATO and the EU will not affect in any way the perspectives of strategic alliance with Russia and the EEU membership, according to Director of the Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandaryan.
"As regards security, the collaboration between Armenia and NATO under IPAP still remains unable to lead to discrepancies within the CSTO. Armenia has been taking part in IPAP for quite a long time, basically in peacekeeping operations.
At the same time, the political expert does not rule out signing of a new agreement between Armenia and the EU, pointing out the ongoing talks. Iskandaryan does not expect any discrepancies between the specified agreement and Armenia's EEU membership. According to him, today Armenia has quite enough formats of interaction with both Europe and Russia.
Pointing out the multi-vector nature of Armenia's foreign policy, the political expert emphasized the total lack of originality of this multi-vector nature and noted that Russia cooperates with Armenia in a number of fields, including security, and conducts security cooperation with Azerbaijan at the same time. Iskandaryan does not find surprising Moscow's sale of weapons to Armenia and Azerbaijan, which are conflicting countries. At the same time, he considers it to be a part of the current political order.
