ArmInfo.Yerevan's cooperation with NATO will never be aimed against the strategic partnership with Russia, Vigen Sargsyan, Armenian Miniser of Defese stated in his interview to RIA Novosti
"Our relations with NATO were always build in a manner absolutely transparent for our allies and partners. We never kept those secret, and such an interaction could never be and never will be aimed against our strategic partnership with Russia," the Minister stated. He reminded that NATO implements a number of peace operations due to UN instructions.
"It is very important and useful for Armenia to obtain knowledge and experience through participation in such operations, to understand the peace making process, considering also the conflicts existing in our region," Sargsyan clarified. He added that Armenia-NATO Partnership separate program is aimed first at the development of military forces democratic control system. The cooperation between Armenia and NATO currently is implemented in conformance to the Armenia-Nato Individual Partnership Action Plan. The participation of Armenia in IPAP assumes periodic consultations with NATO in respect to regional safety, to the development of the basic strategy of that safety, to the development of military doctrine of Armenia and other issues. Armenia participates also to peace missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
