ArmInfo. On Feb 16, Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan visited the Hospital for Prisoners Penitentiary of the Armenian Justice Ministry and monitored the incarceration conditions of the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoon) group members arrested after seizure of a police compound in Erebuni district of Yerevan. Tatoyan also monitored the conditions of medical assistance to Arthur Sargsyan, who had earlier gone on a hunger strike.
The press service of the Ombudsman's Office has told ArmInfo that Tatoyan familiarized himself with the situation regarding the exercise of the arrestees' rights and the quality of the medical assistance being provided to Pavel Manukyan and his son Aram Manukyan, as well as to Armen Lambaryan and Tatoul Tamrazyan.
The source says that these issues remain the focus of attention of the Human Rights Defender's Office.
To note, Aram Manukyan and his father Pavel Manukyan were injured on July 27, 2016 during firefight with the police on the territory of the seized police compound. They were taken to Erebuni medical center and operated on. Charges were pressed against them based on Article 219.3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (Occupation of buildings, facilities, means of transportation and communication, other communication lines, or keeping them, accompanied with a threat of their destruction or damage, which was committed to force the state, an organization or a citizen to perform or not to perform certain action on condition of vacating the occupied property) and Article 235.3 (Illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. On July 29 Armen Lambaryan also received injuries, and Tatoul Tamrazyan was injured in a clash with the police on July 17, on the first day of the police compound seizure. He is charged with illegal keeping of weapons, seizure of buildings and taking of hostages. Arthur Sargsyan, who supplied food to the Sasna Tsrer group on July 26, is charged with supporting the armed group.
