ArmInfo. Juli Edelstein, the Israeli Knesset Speaker, discussed with Armenian delegation, lead by ArtakZakaryan, the Foreign Relations Parliamentary Commission head, the issues of bilateral cooperation between Israel and Armenia.
According to the information, obtained by ArmInfo from the press office of Armenian Parliament, during the meeting Edelstein accentuated the importance of interparliamentary connection and expressed readiness to continue with efforts to improve the cooperation in cultural, economic, agricultural aspects and in the sector of tourism. The Knesset speaker accentuated the role of Armenian and Jewish communities in countries development.
Edelstein confirmed his position in respect to the necessity of adjudication of Armenian Genocide by Knesset and expressed his regrets that the Parliament haven't acknowledged this fact yet by niw, mentioning that appropriate steps were taken in the Parliament in this respect. " I am not proud at all, that Israel has not adjudicated the Armenian Genocide yet, but recently an obvious progress is observed," - the Speaker noted.
The Knesset Speaker expressed hope that peaceful settlement solutions will be found in the nearest future in respect to the conflicts. He promised also to promote further meetings between Armenian and Israeli high ranked officials, and to keep on with active interparliamentary relations. In his turn, Zakaryuan accentuated the importance of interparliamentary contacts in development of bilateral relations, and implementation of the projects of mutually beneficial interest. He presented the situation on the region and Armenian position in respect to the settlement of existing conflicts.
Closing the meeting, Edelstein expressed his success wishes to Armenian Parliament due to upcoming elections.
