ArmInfo. Armenia is going to establish a visa-free regime with the UAE. On January 19, the Armenian Government approved the proposal on conclusion of an Armenian- UAE agreement on liquidation of the entry visa requirement.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan said that the agreement aims to stimulate tourism and the business contacts with the UAE.
To recall, Yerevan has also taken a decision to open a Consulate General in Dubai - the largest city of the UAE.
The diplomatic relations between Armenia and the UAE were established on 25 June 1998 in New York. The UAE Embassy in Armenia was opened in Feb 2015.
According to the National Statistics Service of Armenia, in Jan-Sept 2016 the Armenia-UAE foreign trade turnover totaled 71.4 mln USD (2.1-fold year-over-year growth). The imported goods are construction materials, paints, sugar, plastic articles, paper, furniture, electric appliances, and vehicles. The exported goods are copper, aluminum, natural and artificial pearl.
