ArmInfo. Acting Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia Aramais Grigoryan held meeting with newly appointed Ambassador of Georgia to Armenia Giorgi Saganelidze September 23.
Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment the acting Minister noted that cooperation between Armenia and Georgia in the field of nature protection is sustainable and strong, which is a good condition for development of bilateral relations in nature protection field and implementation of joint programs. Grigoryan expressed hope that during the Ambassador's diplomatic mission Armenian-Georgian relations in nature protection field will actively develop.
Ambassador Saganelidze expressed gratitude for the reception and stated that he will do everything possible for activation of friendly Armenian-Georgian relations and implementation of joint programs in the field of ecology. During the meeting the sides discussed joint programs implemented within nature protection conventions, signed by Armenia and Georgia, as well as the issues of strengthening cross-border cooperation in the field of nature protection. Particularly, the issue of obligations taken by the two states within the program on maintaining wild animals on the verge of extinction in the region of South Caucasus was discussed. On the first stage of the program Armenia has fulfilled its obligations handing over 9 Persian wild goats to Georgia. On the second stage till the end of the year Georgia will hand over Caucasus red deer to Armenia. Grigoryan informed that all the conditions for the animals have been created in Dilijan national park.
