ArmInfo. The key threats to the South Caucasus security are Azerbaijan and Turkey, Vice Speaker of Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov said at a meeting with Under-secretary of Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of f Buenos Aires City Claudio Avruj.
The press office of the Armenian Parliament has told ArmInfo that the sides pointed out the importance of establishing close relations between the two countries.
Sharmazanov spoke of the situation in the South Caucasus, noting that Armenia campaigns for peace and stability in the region. He also touched on the Karabakh peace process, stressing that Karabakh's independence is already a fait accompli. He said that unlike Azerbaijan, Artsakh is developing its democracy. Sharmazanov noted that Baku keeps conducting an anti-Armenian policy. In this light, the politician also condemned the cultural genocide conducted by Baku, and pointed out the demolition of thousands of rare Armenian khachkars (cross-stones) in Jugha.
He added that Turkey does not lag behind Azerbaijan. It continues denying the Armenian Genocide and keeping Armenia in blockade. "It is only a joint struggle against Turkey's denial policy that will be able to prevent recurrence of new crimes against humanity. Recognition of the Armenian Genocide is nothing but a fight for protection of universal values," he stressed.
